The Great Lakes Hockey League-leading Marquette Mutineers withstood an early onslaught of shots from the Bears Friday night, but it was the Mutineers who were able to capitalize early and earn a 7-2 GLHL victory.

The Bears outshot Marquette 17-10 after the first period and 28-15 through two, but it was the Mutineers who took a 2-0 lead into the third period.

It took the Mutineers just six minutes to extend their lead to 6-0 in the third, while also losing their starting goalie who was ejected from the game. However, Marquette had a lead it could easily defend and skated off with a 7-2 win.

The loss drops the Bears to 6-4 in the GLHL, and 9-5 overall. Tonight, the Bears head over to Calumet to face the Wolverines, who enter the game 8-1 in the GLHL.
