Bears Await GLHL Tournament Seeding

The Fond du Lac Bears 2017-18 regular season came to a close last weekend, and now the team turns its attention to the 2018 Great Lakes Hockey League Tournament.

The Bears, who finished the GLHL season with a 12-6 record, currently sit in fourth place in the standings. With the rest of the GLHL season wrapping up this weekend, the Bears final place in the standings could drop down to fifth depending on the outcome of the Mosinee Papermakers/De Pere Deacons matchup Saturday night. 

Should the Deacons win against Mosinee, the Bears would get the four seed and begin tournament play in Pool C with an 8 AM (Eastern) game Friday, March 23.

If the Papermakers knock off De Pere, they would then grab the four seed, knocking the Bears down to the five seed, in which case the Bears first GLHL Tournament game would be 1:30 PM (Eastern) on March 23.

FRIDAY, MARCH 23

• 8 AM – Seed 4 vs. Seed 7
• 10:45 AM – Fox Cities Ice Dogs vs. Monroe Blues
• 1:30 PM – Seed 5 vs. Seed 8
• 4:15 PM – Marquette Mutineers vs. Seed 7
• 7 PM – Calumet Wolverines vs. Monroe Blues
• 9:30 PM – West Bend Bombers vs. Seed 8

SATURDAY, MARCH 24

• 8 AM – West Bend Bombers vs. Seed 5
• 11 AM – Marquette Mutineers vs. Seed 4
• 2 PM – Calumet Wolverines vs. Fox Cities Ice Dogs
• 5 PM – Winner Group B vs. Winner Group C
• 8 PM – Winner Group A vs. Wild Card Winner

SUNDAY, MARCH 25, 2018

• 1 PM – Championship game

Teams get divided into three brackets with the winner of each bracket earning a spot in the semifinals and one random team earning the wild card spot in the semifinals.

• Calumet Wolverines, Fox Cities Ice Dogs, Monroe Blues

GROUP B

• West Bend Bombers, Seed 5, Seed 8

GROUP C

• Marquette Mutineers, Seed 4, Seed 7
