Weekend Recap: Bears Fall to Papermakers in Mosinee
2018-11-12The Fond du Lac Bears dropped their first Great Lakes Hockey League game of the season Saturday night in Mosinee.
The Fond du Lac Bears had just one game over the weekend - their Great Lakes Hockey League opener Saturday evening in Mosinee.
Unfortunately for the Bears, it resulted in a 7-3 loss.
The loss puts the Bears at 0-1 in the GLHL and 2-2 on the season.
Mosinee got on the board first, scoring with 7:59 remaining in the first to take a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, however, Robbie Coleman would find the back of the net to tie things up.
The Papermakers quickly responded, regaining the lead less than a minute later to take a lead they would not relinquish. They would add another before the end of the frame to take a 3-1 lead.
Conrad Acheson and James Goodfellow would each chip in goals in the second period, but the Bears would also allow two more as tempers started to pickup.
In the final frame, the Bears would accumulate 18 minutes in penalties while the Papermakers would rack up 22. The Papermakers would put the nail in the coffin with two more goals to pull away with the 7-3 victory.
Parker Deanovich made 36 saves in the losing effort.
Anthony Lashua stopped 23-26 shots the Bears put on him for Mosinee.
The Bears are now off for nearly three weeks, as the next scheduled game will be Friday, November 30 in Michigan to take on the Marquette Mutineers.
