Power Play Goals Doom Bears in Home Opener Loss

Fond du Lac, WI - The Fox Cities Ice Dogs played the role of spoiler Saturday night.
The limited-capacity sell out crowd of 350 was alive and well seeing the Bears on the home ice for the first time in 10-months, looking for a Bears' victory. The Ice Dogs had other plans, winning the contest 4-2.
Saturday (L 4-2) vs. Fox Cities
Tanner Duffney tallied the first goal of the game with 5:43 left in the second period to break the 0-0 tie. The Ice Dogs then immediately answered with a pair of goals in a 16-second span to claim a lead they would not surrender. After falling behind 3-1, Ian McKinch scored to cut the deficit to 3-2. McKinch had to leave the contest earlier in the game after taking a high stick to the mouth but later returned. The Ice Dogs sealed the game with 1:16 remaining to go up two. Matty Taylor finished with 39 saves in net in the losing effort.
