USHL Preseason Returns to Fond du Lac on September 16

Fond du Lac, WI - For the second straight season, Blue Line Family Ice Center will host a preseason USHL matchup between the Madison Capitols and Green Bay Gamblers. 

This year's matchup will take place on Friday, September 16 with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 PM.

The game will be a fundraiser for Blue Line and youth programs at the rink.

The USHL is the top junior hockey league in the United States, featuring teams across the midwest. Madison and Green Bay represent the only two teams from Wisconsin.

The 2022 NHL draft saw 57 players with USHL ties get selected, tying the league record. The Gamblers had three players selected in the NHL draft, with Cam Lund (2nd round, 34th overall to San Jose), Ryan Greene (2nd round, 57th overall to Chicago), and Victor Mancini (5th round, 159th overall to the New York Rangers). Madison had one selection in the 2022 NHL draft, with the selection of Quinn Finley to the New York Islanders in the 3rd round, 78th overall.

The Capitols are coming off their best season in franchise history, falling in overtime in Game Four of the Best-of-Five Clark Cup championship series this past May. They clinched their first Clark Cup Playoff berth, set a new franchise record for regular season wins, became Eastern Conference champions and made the Clark Cup Finals all for the first time in franchise history.
