It’s time for a new era in Fond du Lac.
Today, the Fond du Lac Bears, members of the Great Lakes Hockey League, are excited to reveal a new logo set as they get ready to begin the 2022-23 season.
“Although we like our old logo and its look it is nice to have a fresher, and more up-to-date look,” said Bears player/manager Robbie Coleman. “We want to adapt to the times and stay in touch with our fans and a new logo was one of the first things we felt we needed to do to accomplish this.”
The new main logo features a more aggressive bear on top of crisscrossing hockey sticks below a new Bears font face.
The main secondary mark features the text "Fond du Lac" above the word “Bears” with bear claw scratches running through the text as a bear claw sits on top of the mark.
“Players are excited to see a fresh logo and look forward to being a part of adding to our history. This is in essence the start of a new era in Bears history and everyone is excited to be at the start of it,” said Coleman.
Additional marks will include the new Bear head on its own, or with just the crisscrossing hockey sticks in the background, the bear claw, and the text “FDL” to further tie the Bears into the community they’ve called home since 1934.
“We didn’t want to steer too far away from our old logo due to our history, but we wanted something new that our fans could get excited about and be excited to represent at our games. We wanted a logo that represents the type of hockey we play while also representing Fond du Lac and our great fans,” Coleman said.
The Bears will be launching an online store featuring the new logos in the near future.
The 2022-23 season gets underway on October 21 at 8 PM when the Bears host the Fox Cities Ice Dogs for the Keevn Cup at Blue Line Family Ice Center. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the rink or online for $80. Fans can purchase season tickets online here.
Single-game tickets for all Bears home games go on sale at noon today. Online tickets will be $5, with day-of-game tickets being $8 at Blue Line. Tickets can be purchased here.
The Bears are looking to break through and win the Kohlman Cup this season, after falling the past two seasons in the championship game.
“We expect to win the GLHL championship, losing two years in a row in the championship is a pretty bad feeling and anything less than winning the Kohlman Cup will be a failure,” said Coleman.
