The Bears wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring five goals in the first period and never looking back in a 11-1 victory over De Pere Saturday night. Nick Monfils opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the game, setting the tone for a relentless Fond du Lac attack. Ryan Sabel contributed a goal and four assists, while Jordan Foster and Connor Martin each tallied two goals.
Fond du Lac outshot De Pere 54-34, keeping constant pressure on the Deacons’ defense. Bears goaltender Alex Kruger was stellar between the pipes, stopping 33 of 34 shots for a .971 save percentage.
First-Period Onslaught
The Bears stormed out of the gates with five first-period goals. Monfils' opener was followed by Sabel lighting the lamp at 18:59. Justin Schwartzmiller, Matt Letmanski, and Zach Wilson also found the back of the net, giving Fond du Lac a commanding 5-0 lead after 20 minutes.
De Pere’s Lone Response
The second period brought more of the same, as the Bears added five more goals to their total. Martin struck first at 19:09, and Foster followed just minutes later. De Pere managed to get on the board at 15:33 when Aidan Fahey scored off an assist from Brian Konowalchuk and Kole Altergott. However, the Bears quickly regained control, with Dillon Fox, Martin, and David Shake adding to the scoring frenzy.
Foster Caps the Scoring
With the game well in hand, the Bears added one more goal in the third period as Foster netted his second of the night at 16:22. The Bears played disciplined hockey down the stretch, with no penalties committed in the final frame.
Balanced Attack Leads Bears
The Bears' offensive explosion saw contributions from up and down the lineup. In addition to Sabel’s five-point night, Monfils and Fox each registered three assists, while Nolan McDermott added three helpers of his own.
The Bears also capitalized on their depth, with 13 different players recording at least one point.
Goaltending Excellence
Kruger anchored the Bears in goal, making key saves early to prevent any De Pere momentum. On the other side, Deacons goaltenders Matt Tushaus and Jake Jankowski faced a barrage of shots, combining for 43 saves on 54 shots.
Looking Ahead
They will be back in action this weekend as they face Hockey Factory in Fond du Lac on Saturday. Fans should note, the game has been moved up to a 7 PM puck drop. Tickets are available now online at ticketsource.us/fdlblueline.
