Weekend Recap: Bears Retain Keevin Cup with 10-3 win over Fox Cities
2022-10-24The Bears opened up the 2022-23 season with a 10-3 victory over Fox Cities to win the Keevin Cup.
Fond du Lac, WI - The Bears started the 2022-23 season with a bang, scoring 10 goals to defeat the Fox Cities Ice Dogs 10-3 in the season opener and retain the Keevin Cup.
The Bears will now sit idle until November 4 when the same two teams meet again in Appleton.
Four-point nights from Nick Monfils and Ryan Sabel plus a hat-trick from Malachi Buchholz helped lead the offensive charge for the Bears, who scored three in the first, two in the second, and cemented the game away with five third-period goals.
Niles Owen (two assists), Jordan Foster, Anthony Grebe, Connor McLaughlin (one goal, one assist each), Brady Beekman, Robbie Coleman (two assists each) all had multi-point efforts in the win.
Bears goalies Justin Davidson and Alex Kruger combined to stop 19 of the 22 shots they faced, while the Bears offense piled on 46 shots on goal.
The Bears' next home game takes place Saturday, November 5 when the Mosinee Papermakers come to Blue Line Family Ice Center for an 8 PM Great Lakes Hockey League matchup. Tickets are available at FondDuLacBears.com.

Jersey Orders Due October 26
Fans can now order the Bear's new jersey through October 26 with any name and number on the back. Jerseys will arrive towards the end of 2022 and will be available for pickup at Blue Line Family Ice Center. Until the new uniforms arrive, the Bears will continue to wear their current uniforms.
