Weekend Recap: Bears Go 1-1 on Northern Michigan Road Trip
2023-01-30The Bears went 1-1 over the weekend, scoring in the final 30 seconds Friday to beat Calumet, but falling to Portage Lake Saturday.
Fond du Lac suffers their first loss of the season after going 1-1 on thier Michigan weekend.
Friday (W 6-5) @ Calumet Wolverines
Anthony Grebe found the back of the net with just 23 seconds remaining in the game to give the Bears a 6-5 come-from-behind victory Friday night. After jumping out to a three-goal lead mid-way through the game, the Wolverines responded with three of their own in the final 10:53 of the second period to tie things up going into the final period. There, the Bears would quickly regain their lead less than three minutes into the period, but the lead was short-lived as the Wolverines would tie things back up less than two minutes later. The Wolverines would jump in front for the first time with nine minutes remaining in the game before Matt Letmanski would tie it back up with 5:15 to go. Letmanski finished with three points (2-1-3) to lead the offense. Justin Davidson stopped 42 of 47 shots.

Saturday (L 6-2) @ Portage Lake Pioneers
Banged up from Saturday, the Bears suffered their first loss of the season Saturday. Trailing 4-1 mid-way through the third, Grebe scored his second goal of the weekend to bring the Bears within two. The Pioneers added two goals in the final 1:15 of the game to officially put the game away. The two goals Saturday were the fewest the Bears have scored in a game all season.
