Bears Remain Atop the GLHL with Weekend Sweep

The Bears continue to roll through their season, picking up victories against the Deacons and Ice Dogs over the weekend. 

Friday (W 7-1) @ De Pere Deacons

After a close first period, the Bears pulled away in the second period, adding three goals, followed by another three to cement the victory. Alex Kruger was sharp in net, stopping 42 of 43 shots faced. Nick Monfils finished the night with four points (2-2-4), with Ryan Sabel and Anthony Grebe (1-2-3) each with three-point nights. Only three penalties were called all night, two on the Bears (Berger, Smolen) and one on the Deacons.

Saturday (W 12-3) vs. Fox Cities Ice Dogs

In a matchup of two teams who are at complete opposite ends of the standings, the short-handed Ice Dogs were no match for the Bears, as the Bears scored 10 in the final 40 minutes to run away with the win. Anthony Grebe got the hat trick and finished the night with five points, wiht linemates Monfils and Sabel each having four-point nights. All but one Bears skater in the lineup recorded a point in the contest. Justin Davidson made 24 saves in the victory.

The Bears and Ice Dogs will tangle once again in Fond du Lac on Friday night at 8 PM. The Bears will then play an exhibition game against Hockey Factory Saturday night at Blue Line. Tickets are on sale now.
