Unfamiliar Territory: Bears Drop Two Over the Weekend

Friday (L 7-2) @ Portage Lake
The Pioneers started off fast and furious Friday night, scoring three goals in the opening 10:15 to jump out to a lead that the Bears could not come back from. A short-handed Bears squad could only muster up 25 shots on goal, compared to the Pioneers 56. Mitch Grebe would score the Bears first goal of the contest late in the first period. Jordan Foster would get the Bears only other tally late in the third period.
Saturday (L 5-2) @ Calumet
Down another player from Friday night, the Bears managed the keep the game close throughout, with the game being only a 2-1 game in favor of Calumet until the final seconds of the second period when the Wolverines would put one in to make it 3-1. Matt Letmanski's power play marker would pull the Bears back within one in the third, but the Wolverines would add two more, including an empty netter to seal the win.
