March 22-23 Preview: Bears Close Out Home Portion of Regular Season
2024-03-22The Bears end the home portion of the regular season this weekend with a pair of matchups at Blue Line Family Ice Center.
The Bears will be keeping a close eye on a few matchups around the GLHL this weekend.
Entering the weekend, the Bears are the only other team with a shot at the Great Lakes Hockey League regular season title outside of Portage Lake. The Pioneers will play their final GLHL game of the season Sunday, and if they win, they will claim the 2023-24 championship. If the Pioneers get one point, the Bears could finish in a tie with the Pioneers if they win out, and if the Pioneers lose and the Bears win out, the Bears would win the GLHL championship.
In addition, on Friday night Eagle River takes on Mosinee. Both teams along with the Bears are guaranteed a top-four seed in the GLHL tournament, but positioning is still to be determined. The Bears control their own destiny to get a top-two seed if they win out, with one of their two remaining league games coming Saturday at home against Mosinee.
The Bears will close out the regular season on the road at Fox Cities on March 29.
Prior to the Bears game on Saturday, March 23, the team will host a Skate with the Bears event from 6-6:45 PM where fans can skate on the ice with Bears players prior to the game. All participants must have skates, and the event is free to attend.
