The Fond du Lac Bears delivered a commanding performance on Saturday night, outlasting the Eagle River Falcons in a 10-7 offensive showcase at the Fond du Lac Blue Line Center. Fueled by relentless offensive pressure and timely goals, the Bears secured an exhilarating victory in front of their home crowd.
The Bears set the tone early in the first period, striking first with a goal from Anthony Grebe at 15:11, assisted by Ryan Sabel. Just over a minute later, Matt Letmanski capitalized on a crisp feed from Nolan McDermott to double the lead. Dillon Fox made it 3-0 with a goal at 11:28, following a setup from Jordan Foster and Cody Ruplinger. While the Falcons responded with two goals before the period ended, Fond du Lac maintained a 3-2 lead heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Bears continued to showcase their offensive depth. Fox netted his second goal of the night at 17:10. Grebe added another at 15:26, thanks to a setup from Nick Monfils. Although the Falcons surged with four consecutive goals, including one unassisted tally, Fond du Lac regrouped. Fox completed his hat trick at 5:15 with Foster’s third assist of the game, and Monfils added a late-period goal, assisted by Micah Buchholz, to restore the Bears' lead at 7-6 entering the third.
The third period saw the Bears solidify their control of the game. A power-play goal by Tom Glomski at 13:35, with assists from Foster, extended the lead to 8-6. Buchholz followed up with another goal at 11:20, capitalizing on a setup from brother Jarrett Buchholz. The Falcons managed to trim the lead with a goal midway through the period, but Grebe completed, sealing the Bears’ 10-7 victory.
Goaltender Justin Davidson stood tall in net, turning aside 35 of the Falcons' 42 shots. Despite the high score, Davidson’s key saves in critical moments allowed the Bears to fend off the Falcons’ persistent attack.
The Bears are back home December 27 and 28 for a pair of exhibition games. Friday December 27th, the Bears will take on Hockey Factory at 7:30 PM. Saturday, Chicago returns to Fond du Lac for a 7 PM puck drop. Tickets are available at FondDuLacBears.com.
