Sirota, Letmanski Record Hat Tricks in Route of Sun Prairie

2025-12-29

Nine different players recorded multi-point nights and Lucas Zimmerman started his first career GLHL game in net in the Bears victory over Sun Prairie Friday.

The Fond du Lac Bears delivered a dominant performance Friday night, rolling to a 15-3 win over Sun Prairie behind sustained offensive pressure and a six-goal second period. The Bears controlled play throughout the game, finishing with a 65–26 advantage in shots and scoring in all three periods.

Sun Prairie struck first early in the opening frame, but Fond du Lac responded quickly. Tom Glomski tied the game at 15:04, followed by goals from Matt Letmanski, Nick Sirota, and Nick Monfils as the Bears surged ahead. Despite Sun Prairie converting on a power play late in the period, Fond du Lac exited the first intermission with a 4-3 lead after generating 22 shots in the opening 20 minutes.

The second period was decisive. Letmanski opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 16:56, sparking a stretch where the Bears scored six unanswered goals. Sirota added a power-play marker, Anthony Grebe scored at 10:01, and Dillon Fox and Letmanski each found the net again as Fond du Lac overwhelmed the Killer Bees with pace and possession. The Bears outshot Sun Prairie 25-7 in the middle frame and took a commanding 10-3 lead into the third.

Fond du Lac continued to press in the final period, adding five more goals while limiting Sun Prairie to just eight shots. Sirota scored his third of the night, McDermott, Deanovich, and Sabel followed, and Grebe closed the scoring late. The Bears fired 18 shots in the third to cap a complete offensive effort.

Lucas Zimmerman, starting his first career GLHL game in net, earned the win by stopping 23 of 26 shots. Offensively, Sirota led the way with six points, while Letmanski recorded a hat trick and Grebe, Fox, Sabel, and Monfils all contributed multi-point nights as the Bears showcased balanced scoring across the lineup.

The win moves the Bears to 5-2-0-1 in the GLHL standings - good for second in points but the Bears have played the most league games to date.

Saturday, the Bears hosted the Chicago Shamrocks in an exhibition, dropping the contest 5-4 despite missing nearly all lineup regulars and outshooting the Shamrocks 60-40.

The Bears are back home on Saturday, January 3 for an 8 PM GLHL game with the Fox Cities Ice Dogs. Saturday is Youth Night, presented by Sabel Mechanical and Sabel Industrial. Kids get into the game for free, plus Bears drawstring bags will be given out to the first 100 youth ages 12 and younger. Youth will receive tickets to enter to win prizes between periods, and there will be a Bears t-shirt toss between periods.
