Bears Explode for Seven-Goal First Period in 14–6 Win Over Calumet

Fond du Lac scored seven times in the opening period and never looked back, defeating Calumet 14–6 on Saturday night. Dillon Fox and Blake Spies each recorded hat tricks, Zach Wilson tallied five points, and the Bears finished with a 67–27 advantage in shots in one of their highest-scoring performances of the season.
The Fond du Lac Bears closed out February with a high-scoring 14–6 win over Calumet, erupting for seven first-period goals and finishing with a commanding 67–27 advantage in shots. The Bears generated consistent pressure throughout the night, including 26 shots in the opening period and 25 more in the second.
Fond du Lac struck first with 17:31 remaining in the first period on a goal from Zach Wilson. After Calumet briefly tied the game, the Bears responded with a five-goal surge. Niles Owen scored with 12:44 left, followed by a power-play goal from Dillon Fox at 11:31. Blake Spies added another at 10:57, Jonas Buchholz scored at 6:42, and Fox netted his second of the period at 4:44. Calumet added a late goal, but Jarrett Buchholz answered with 1:26 remaining to send the Bears into the intermission with a 7–2 lead.
Calumet opened the second period with three goals to narrow the margin, but Fond du Lac quickly regained control. Spies scored with 6:32 remaining, Jordan Foster added back-to-back goals at 5:45 and 2:31, and Jarrett Buchholz found the net again with 1:55 left to extend the lead to 11–5 after two periods.
The Bears continued to press in the third. Nick Sirota scored early with 18:26 remaining, and after Calumet added one more, Fox completed his hat trick with 3:39 left. Spies followed 15 seconds later at 3:24 to cap the scoring at 14–6.
Alex Kruger made 21 saves on 27 shots in net for the Bears. Offensively, Wilson recorded five points, Fox and Spies each tallied hat tricks, and multiple players contributed multi-point performances as Fond du Lac delivered one of its most productive offensive outings of the season.
