Bears Falter in Regular Season Finale

It wasn't the way the Bears wanted to finish off the regular season. The Bears got swept at home by Mosinee and West Bend to close out the regular season.
Fond du Lac, WI - It wasn't the way the Bears wanted to finish off the regular season. The Bears got swept at home by the Mosinee Papermakers and West Bend Bombers over the weekend to close out the regular season.
Friday (L, 9-6) vs. Mosinee
Special teams was the difference in this contest, as the Bears found themselves shorthanded nine different times.
The Papermakers capitalized on five of them.
Frustration started boiling over for the Bears, as the team only got two chances of their own with the man advantage.
Down 7-3 entering the final frame, and 8-3 early in the third, the Bears scored three unanswered to close the gap to just two with 7:12 to play, but that was as close as they would get. Mosinee would add an empty netter with 1:08 remaining to seal the victory.
Saturday (L, 7-2) vs. West Bend
These two teams know each other well. They have played five times already this season before Saturday's matchup. The Bears were 1-3-0-1 against their rivals, and the biggest spread in any of the games was a two-goal victory.
Saturday night, the Bombers came to town, and controlled the play throughout the game, downing the Bears 7-2.
Special teams were again an issue for the Bears, as they surrendered three goals shorthanded.
Joe Rebedew did everything he could in net to keep the Bears in the game. He made 56 saves in the losing effort.
